Assistant Accountant/Payroll needed for Sketch Comedy Pilot, Non-Union.

Ideal candidate is Payroll Assistant; or 2nd Asst looking for exposure to non-union payroll.
Based in Los Angeles, part time / remote through mid-late May; 3 weeks full time for 3-day shoot (dates tbc); pre-pro weeks at 1-2 days per week.
Project fee based on $1,500 – $1,800 week.
Tasks: payroll collection via Start+, A/P, routing paperwork for approvals; digital filing; etc.
Familiarity with Cast & Crew (Start+, Studio+, PSL+) a must!

Production Accountant for Disney Freeform Production Finance (Burbank, CA)

The Disney Branded Television / Freeform Production Finance Department is responsible for the financial management of all of our television series, MOW’s, pilots and specials. We interact with many other Disney Television departments on a daily basis.

Primary responsibilities:
• Assist with Production Accounting back-end duties:
○ Wrap/reconcile/ and close out show trial balances and cost reports.
○ Update various department reports including calendars and cost summaries.
○ Run ledger reports and quantify costs upon request.
○ Process Accounts Payable
○ Prepare Journal Entries
○ Assist with ad-hoc production accounting projects

• Responsible for processing various prep, and post accounting payments related to various projects.
• Process and manage all development payments including overall deals.
• Ensure payments have appropriate fringe applied.
• Manage payments with third party accounting team, as applicable.
• Produce requested production finance deliverables including: ledger bibles, cost reports, balance sheets, check
registers, and purchase orders, to ensure accuracy and strict policy adherence.
• Ensure payments are correctly recorded in SAP. Ensure discrepancies are resolved.
• Ensure that production cost information is properly reflected on payment recaps and compile proper reporting
materials.
• Moderate the completion of various Start forms including the I9.
• Setup the new development projects with corresponding accounting software system.
• Ensure adherence to all production accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure production advances and studio paid costs are properly recorded in the production general ledger.
• Provide guidance with accounting database systems and administration.
• Provide WGA weekly worklist.
• Work with Salesforce team to ensure Blast is working properly for development desk duties.
• Plan and perform ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• SAP experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in production accounting is required.
• In depth understanding of motion picture industry accounting and financial practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP
• Willing to learn production accounting software programs (PSL3, Movie Magic, and Vista/GV).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with union/guild agreements.
• Ability to communicate with Studio counterparts and external representation.
• Passionate about television programming with a keen interest in and aptitude for learning the business.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrate strong analytical skills,
and work well under pressure.
• Pragmatic, highly organized and high attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a corporate environment.
• Previous studio experience. Strong preference for previous Disney experience
• Previous A/P experience

Additional Information: Hybrid/onsite 3 days a week. Potential for extension for successful candidate.
Strong preference for candidates with experience accounting for wrapped productions.

The position assists the Director, Production Finance, and reports directly to the EVP, TV Production Finance. Responsibilities
Prep and Wrap of Pilots and Series
Including Processing Accounts Payable, Journal Entries, Petty Cash, Payroll, P-Cards
Assist with Cost Reports for shows in prep/wrap
Track and request funding as needed
Handle weekly closes, run weekly reports and post to SceneChronize
Prepare and send documents to Optimis for scanning
Research and Analysis as needed
Pull documentation needed for audits
Assist Director and other team members as requested
Other tasks as requested

Experience & Skills
2-3 Years’ Experience as First Assistant on One Hour Scripted TV projects required
Multi-Currency show experience preferred
V5 and Digital Workflow product experience preferred
Strong Excel skills
CASHet, SceneChronize and Optimis experience preferred
Must be able to seamlessly move across multiple projects
Team player with great attitude
Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills required
